This episode marked the end of the third season of The World God Only Knows and the last we will see for a while of our lovestruck hero of the Goddesses. A man with mixed feelings after the conclusion of the vintage incident and a season full of love and adventure. God only knows what will happen to all of them, but one thing is certain, This anime rocks!
Ayumi's Finale!
The last conquest of Ayumi left Keima a lot more vulnerable than in other conquests. This was a blessing because we got to see his innocent side which made the conquest seem a lot more intense than most of the others. The conclusion of the Goddess arc being Vintage getting kicked out of their island by the Goddesses was a little boring, but who cares, the are two people that made this finale so epic were Chihiro and Keima.
Chihiro and Keima.
I believe that this is the most lovely conquest of them all. Keima finally gave off the impression that he was in love with a girl and that girl is Chihiro. Despite being aware of everything involved with Ayumi's conquest their connection remained strong, paving the way for a final epic love story between the two of them. During the last performance, the most powerful scene of the anime was Keima shedding a tear for Chihiro. He did something horrible to Chihiro. Who cares if she didn't remember her conquest? She loves Keima until death. Her love was nothing compared to all girls combined, but because of it's unusual authenticity Keima's response was simply amazing. The premise of the anime itself up to this point intensified the significance of him feeling this strongly about someone. Combining this with a highlight reel of all of her scenes with intensified lighting really drove home that point and left us feeling stronger feelings for Keima and his struggle than any previous series managed.
What makes the series so complete?
When the goddess arc began fans were disappointed that they skipped a lot of girls from the manga which despite being necessary was a shame. They skipped some details like eliminating Fiore, a vintage member, but in the end what was this arc all about? It is Keima finding out that he is doing something real and that it is not a game anymore. He faces challenges ranging from the intensified conquests of the Goddess hosts to him actually feeling love for real for the first time. The girls had a more prominent part in the story this time. They are now more involved than ever, from Haqua doing more work during the conquests, to the Goddesses who dictate the overarching plot, even to the girls who suddenly regained their memories when the Goddesses appeared. Despite the rushed pacing and some adjustments that ruined the perfect manga to anime adaptation reputation of the series, it was a joy to watch.
Overall
Who will eventually win the heart of Katsuragi Keima? As this anime concluded, it personally left me one question. "Did Keima fall in love?" I believe the answer to be yes because of Chihiro but who knows, Keima is still the harem master anyway. Even demons like Haqua love him, so the manga continues and we have to give it our support.
